Senior BESS Design Manager | Temp-to-Hire | EPC / Energy Storage Projects
I am currently recruiting for a Senior BESS Design Manager to support large-scale EPC and infrastructure project work.
This is a temp-to-hire opportunity and candidates must be comfortable working on-site during the temporary period, with the ability to relocate full-time if the role converts into a permanent offer.
The role:
You will lead the design and engineering delivery of energy storage and infrastructure projects, taking responsibility from early concept through design, construction support and project execution.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead BESS and infrastructure design from concept through IFC
• Manage greenfield and brownfield projects through feasibility, funding, design, permitting and construction support
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering, procurement and construction teams
• Own project design schedules, design funding and key technical deliverables
• Manage permitting and construction documentation
• Support value engineering, feasibility studies and options analysis
• Work with internal stakeholders, external consultants and construction teams
• Identify risks, resource gaps and project constraints early
What we are looking for:
• Strong background in BESS, energy storage, electrical infrastructure or utility-scale projects
• Experience across EPC, engineering, construction or project management environments
• Strong understanding of grid-scale energy storage systems and balance-of-plant equipment
• Knowledge of inverters, transformers, switchgear, HVAC, fire suppression and electrical protection
• Familiarity with medium/high-voltage systems, controls and communication systems
• Understanding of relevant codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL or IEC
• Degree in Engineering preferred, ideally Electrical Engineering
• PE licence preferred but not essential
• Strong communication skills and the ability to drive projects in a fast-paced environment
