About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist Call Center 1 plays a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient communication between patients and healthcare providers within the health care and social assistance industry. This position is responsible for managing inbound and outbound calls, scheduling appointments, and providing accurate information to patients regarding medical services and procedures. The role requires maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to healthcare regulations while delivering exceptional customer service. The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, helping to create a welcoming and professional environment that supports patient satisfaction and operational efficiency. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall effectiveness of healthcare delivery by facilitating timely and accurate communication between patients and medical staff.

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time, Medical Receptionist Call Center 1 at Gastroenterology of Ocean County in Toms River, NJ.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer and manage a high volume of inbound and outbound calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Provide patients with clear and concise information about medical services, office policies, and procedures.
  • Verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other relevant privacy laws at all times.
  • Document call details, patient inquiries, and appointment information accurately in the call center database.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to resolve patient issues and improve service delivery.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as processing patient forms, handling referrals, and managing waitlists.

Skills:

The required skills such as effective communication and computer proficiency are essential for managing patient interactions and accurately scheduling appointments on a daily basis. Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures enables the receptionist to understand patient needs and provide relevant information efficiently. Attention to detail and organizational skills are used to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. Preferred skills like bilingual communication enhance the ability to serve a diverse patient population and improve overall patient satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or call center role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience working with HIPAA compliance and patient privacy regulations.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
  • Experience in a fast-paced medical call center environment.
