Medical Scribe

Locations: Barrington, Geneva, & Elgin, Illinois Status: Full-Time (40 Hours/Week) Pay Range (based on experience): From $16.50/Hour

Responsible to facilitate patient information flow ensuring an accurate and complete medical record for each patient at the direction of the medical provider.

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Bridge clinical skills with information technology in order to update the electronic health record of the patient.
2. Accompany the medical provider, except where prohibited by a patient's request or confidentiality requirement, to record accurate documentation of the patient's visit and procedures in the system.
3. Responsible to complete the patient medical record by tracking and transcribing all consultation data, labs, radiologic and other diagnostic tests for the medical provider.
4. Record diagnosis, discharge, prescription and/or follow up instructions as well as consultations or discussions with the family and/or any other medical or nonmedical personnel.
5. Enter information into the electronic health record system.
6. Review content of all patient medical records to ensure completion and accuracy prior to submission to the medical provider for final review and approval.

Education and/or Experience Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical office procedures, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology and the various medical specialties.
• Ability to interact with patients, physicians and co-workers.
• Ability to accurately record information.

Preferred:

• Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS) or Certified Medical Scribe Apprentice (CMSA)
• Previous experience working as a Medical Scribe
