Position Summary

The Law Office of Deborah L. Pico is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join our practice. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload with a primary focus on trial work in probate and civil litigation matters. At least 5 years litigation experience required.

This role requires a self-directed, detail-oriented attorney who demonstrates sound legal judgment, strong advocacy skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service. The Litigation Attorney will work closely with the firm's principal on all phases of litigation, from case evaluation through trial and post-trial proceedings.

Probate & Estate Litigation and General Civil Litigation

  • Handle contested probate matters, guardianships, conservatorships, and elder financial abuse claims
  • All aspects of trials, including drafting of all pleadings, discovery, motion practice, etc.
  • Conduct depositions, prepare and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues; draft memoranda, briefs, and court filings.
  • Appear in state and/or federal court on behalf of clients at hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Negotiate settlements and assist in alternative dispute resolution proceedings (mediation/arbitration)
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments.
  • Manage case files and litigation calendars to ensure deadlines and court schedules are met.
  • Exercise sound billing judgment; prepare accurate and timely entries consistent with firm billing practices.
