Job Duties
VCBR is recruiting for a Resident Records Technician. This individual will establish and maintain resident records while ensuring all records are safe, secure, and confidential. The technician will be responsible for maintaining census count, roster, and room assignments. This individual should have a working knowledge of medical records, principles, policies, and procedures, including confidentiality, preparation, disposition, and usage. The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR), located in Burkeville, VA is a behavioral treatment center recognized for its excellence by securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders. VCBR provides recovery, opportunity and support to residents so they may safely return to their communities and is the only facility in the Commonwealth that provides such service.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of medical records principles, policies and practices including confidentiality, preparation, maintenance, security, disposition and usage.
Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology.
Ability to use work processing and database software and equipment.
Ability to logically review, gather and organize information.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of state, federal and department requirements
Additional Considerations
Experience working in a medical records department or record keeping. Prior experience using the AVATAR system. Work experience in a forensic environment.
