The Residential HVAC Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the comfort and safety of homeowners by maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position requires a thorough understanding of residential HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation units. Candidates must also be willing to work on light commercial equipment and adapt to rotating or switching schedules as operational needs require. The technician will diagnose system malfunctions, perform routine maintenance, and implement repairs to optimize system performance and energy efficiency—ultimately contributing to enhanced indoor air quality and energy savings for clients across the United States.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
• ▸ High school diploma or equivalent.
• ▸ Completion of an accredited HVAC training program or apprenticeship.
• ▸ Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• ▸ Proven experience working with residential HVAC systems.
• ▸ Willingness to work on light commercial HVAC equipment as needed.
• ▸ Ability to work flexible or rotating schedules based on operational demands.
• ▸ Must be willing to submit to and pass a drug test upon hiring.
• ▸ Ability to pass a full background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
• ▸ EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
• ▸ NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification.
• ▸ Experience with light commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
• ▸ Experience with smart HVAC systems and home automation integration.
• ▸ Strong customer service and communication skills.
• ▸ Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge related to HVAC systems.
RESPONSIBILITY
• ▸ Respond to residential and light commercial service calls, performing thorough on-site diagnoses to identify the root causes of HVAC system failures.
• ▸ Troubleshoot complex issues across a wide range of equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, and light commercial rooftop units.
• ▸ Conduct detailed system diagnostics using industry-standard tools, including manifold gauges, multimeters, combustion analyzers, and refrigerant recovery equipment.
• ▸ Perform skilled repairs, including compressor replacement, refrigerant recharge, heat exchanger inspection, electrical component repair, and ductwork corrections.
• ▸ Carry out preventive maintenance services—cleaning coils, inspecting heat exchangers, checking refrigerant levels, and testing system controls—to maximize equipment lifespan.
• ▸ Accurately document all service findings, parts used, repairs completed, and system performance readings in work orders and service reports.
• ▸ Communicate diagnosis results and repair recommendations to customers in a clear, professional manner and provide transparent cost estimates before beginning work.
• ▸ Adapt to rotating or switching schedules to meet service demand and ensure team coverage across residential and light commercial accounts.
• ▸ Stay current on manufacturer service bulletins, code updates, and emerging HVAC technologies to deliver best-in-class service.
SKILLS
Required skills enable the technician to effectively maintain, and repair HVAC systems through technical knowledge and hands-on expertise. Troubleshooting skills are essential for diagnosing failures and implementing timely repairs. Daily communication with customers requires the ability to explain technical issues clearly and professionally. EPA certification and familiarity with smart systems enhance safety and adaptability. Strong organizational skills support schedule management and detailed record-keeping.
