Tax Manager - Indirect | Hybrid | $120,000 to $140,000 + Bonus/Benefits

This role will own sales and use tax compliance, personal property tax, and business licensing across multiple jurisdictions, while also driving process improvements and automation initiatives. The position offers strong cross-functional exposure and the opportunity to build scalable processes in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns accurately and on time
• Review and reconcile sales tax payable accounts and related general ledger balances
• Analyze transactions to ensure proper taxability and exemption treatment
• Maintain exemption certificates and ensure compliance with documentation requirements
• Research taxability of new products, services, and business transactions
• Monitor nexus exposure and changes in state and local tax regulations
• Prepare personal property tax data and support filings across jurisdictions
• Manage business license registrations and renewals, including tracking deadlines
• Develop and document standard operating procedures for indirect tax processes
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
• Support implementation of tax automation tools and ERP integrations
• Maintain tax calendars and compliance tracking tools
• Serve as a resource for internal teams on indirect tax matters
• Assist with audits, notices, and inquiries from tax authorities
• Support internal and external audit requests and documentation
• Partner with finance leadership on tax risk and compliance initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation required
• CPA strongly preferred
• 5+ years of indirect tax experience, including sales and use tax compliance
• Experience with multi-state tax filings required
• Experience with personal property tax and business licenses preferred
• Strong knowledge of state and local tax regulations
• Ability to interpret and apply tax regulations to business transactions
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines across jurisdictions
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
