Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare security team in the Midwest region, where your role as a Public Safety Officer is vital to maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors. This part-time position involves routine surveillance of healthcare properties, including foot and vehicle patrols, responding promptly to calls for service, and managing situations with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of grounds and buildings to ensure safety and security.
• Respond to incidents and potential disturbances, employing de-escalation techniques to control situations effectively.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily shift logs and incident reports.
• Communicate safety concerns and updates to management and relevant departments.
• Assist with parking management and emergency coordination as needed.
• Respect confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity when interacting with patients and visitors.

Education

High School Diploma or GED is required. Graduation from a Law Enforcement Academy is mandatory.

Experience

At least one year of road experience as a Patrol Officer or four years of active experience in law enforcement detention is necessary.

Certifications and Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Must be a commissioned law enforcement officer in good standing or have held a valid commission within the past three years, with the ability to obtain commission within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver's license required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, interpret safety policies, and operate patrol vehicles safely. Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, including navigating stairs and long corridors.

Working Conditions

This role involves exposure to various environmental conditions such as heat, cold, noise, and potential contact with infectious diseases. Officers may encounter aggressive or abusive individuals and must maintain composure and professionalism at all times.
