Job Description

The Institutional Giving Manager is a crucial role responsible for generating the financial resources necessary to sustain and grow our organization's programs and services. The primary goal is to secure a minimum of $200,000 in revenue annually through a combination of grant writing, individual donor cultivation, corporate sponsorships, and special fundraising events.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, self-motivated, and results-oriented professional with a passion for serving our nation's heroes. A veteran with relevant experience is a highly preferred candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Grant Writing & Management:

  • Research: Proactively identify, research, and evaluate potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with our mission.
  • Writing & Submission: Develop compelling, well-researched, and persuasive grant proposals, applications, and letters of inquiry. Ensure all submissions are accurate, timely, and meet the specific requirements of each funder.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit thorough and timely grant reports, including financial and programmatic updates, to demonstrate the impact of the funds received.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain and nurture relationships with grant officers and program staff at various funding organizations.

2. Fundraising & Development:

  • Annual Giving: Develop and implement strategies to increase individual donor contributions through direct mail campaigns, online appeals, and other outreach methods.
  • Major Gifts: Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Corporate Partnerships: Forge and maintain relationships with local and national businesses for corporate sponsorships, in-kind donations, and employee giving programs.
  • Special Events: Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events (e.g., galas, golf tournaments, community runs) to raise awareness and funds.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update donor and prospect information in our CRM/database (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect) to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.

3. Strategic Planning & Administration:

  • Annual Plan: Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and execute an annual fundraising plan with clear, measurable goals.
  • Budgeting: Manage the fundraising budget, ensuring a strong return on investment for all development activities.
  • Communication: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop a strong case for support and compelling fundraising materials (e.g., brochures, website content, newsletters).
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on fundraising progress to the Executive Director and the Board.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated success in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing grants and cultivating individual and corporate donors.
  • Required Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to understand and interpret financial data and budgets.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with a fundraising CRM software.
  • Mission Alignment: A deep commitment to the mission of supporting Veterans.
  • Ideal Candidate: A veteran with relevant fundraising or grant writing experience is highly encouraged to apply. Their personal understanding of the challenges and needs of the Veteran community will be invaluable to this role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

About Valhalla Veterans Services

Valhalla Veterans Services (VVS) is a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing life-saving support to America’s Veterans, first responders, and their families through professional clinical counseling and trauma-informed care.

Our mission is centered on healing the invisible wounds of service, including PTSD, moral injury, depression, anxiety, and the prevention of suicide. Valhalla exists to ensure that those who have served our nation have access to compassionate, high-quality mental health services rooted in dignity, purpose, and restoration.

At Valhalla Veterans Services we believe that healing is more than a clinical process—it is also deeply spiritual. We hold that every Veteran is made in the Imago Dei—the Image of God —and deserves care that honors the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

Through counseling, community partnership, and faith-driven mission work, Valhalla strives to bring hope to those who feel forgotten and to create a place of refuge for heroes in need of restoration.

The Institutional Giving Manager plays a critical role in sustaining and expanding this mission by securing the resources necessary to provide counseling services, strengthen outreach, and save lives.
