Success Academy is a large, fast‑growing network of public charter schools dedicated to providing a rigorous, whole‑child education. The Network Technical Theatre Supervisor is a high‑impact, school‑based role responsible for the creative vision, technical execution, and instructional quality of technical theatre across all Success Academy campuses. This role serves as the primary architect for set design and production quality, ensuring a professional and cohesive aesthetic across the network. The position reports to the Theatre Program Manager and requires flexibility for evening rehearsals, weekend festivals, and travel between campuses and storage facilities. Roles and Responsibilities Primary designer for flagship high‑school productions and architect for Elementary and Middle School programs. Standardize and elevate the “Success Academy Stage” across the network. Oversee all technical designs for six HSLA productions, focusing on professional‑grade set design and construction. Streamline production quality network‑wide, ensuring Elementary productions are autonomous and clean while supporting Middle School design input and resources. Technical director and lead designer for flagship events such as the Festival of the Performing Arts (March) and the Write It! Perform It! Theatre Festival (April). Execute technical theatre initiatives within budget, managing procurement of goods and services for the entire network. Instructional Leadership & Scholar Development Direct Stagecraft courses at the Bronx K‑12 campus, modeling high‑quality instruction. Refine and update technical theatre lessons to be used network‑wide. Own and manage the Technical Theatre Clubs at all high‑school locations, fostering a pipeline of scholar‑technicians. Design and lead technical theatre professional development sessions for teachers during designated content days. Logistics & Asset Management Manage the SA Theatre storage unit—organisation, inventory, and delivery of goods to campuses. Identify and support campuses or programs lacking technical support to ensure equity in production quality. Partner with local organisations to create internships and advanced opportunities for scholars. Candidate Requirements Technical Expertise Significant experience in scenic design and technical direction, especially for large‑scale musical or dramatic productions. Experience teaching technical theatre or stagecraft to K‑12 scholars, translating complex concepts for beginners. Proven ability to manage logistics of multiple concurrent productions across different locations. Embodies Excellence, Teamwork, Humor, Ownership, and Scholar‑first decision‑making. Can envision a professional‑grade stage from an empty space. Comfortable managing spreadsheets, a storage unit, lighting plots, and power tools. Valid driver’s license for frequent travel and delivery of materials via SA storage vehicle. Physical ability to lift heavy scenic elements, climb ladders, and engage in set construction and strike. Flexible to work extended hours during peak festival and production windows (March and April).
